Dr. Andrea Marongiu is a type A fixed-term researcher (RTDA) in Nuclear Medicine at the University of Sassari and a medical doctor at the Nuclear Medicine Unit of the University Hospital of Sassari (AOU Sassari). Clinically, he performs diagnostic procedures for oncological, inflammatory, and neurological patients using scintigraphy and PET/CT with radiotracers such as ^18F-FDG, ^68Ga-PSMA, and ^68Ga-DOTATOC. He is also involved in outpatient thyroidology, bone densitometry (DEXA), and radioiodine therapy with ^131I for hyperthyroidism.

On the academic side, after earning his specialization diploma in Nuclear Medicine in November 2020, he has been serving as an RTDA since December 2022 and regularly teaches in the degree programs in Medical Radiology, Physiotherapy, Biomedical Laboratory Techniques, and, starting in the 2024/2025 academic year, in Speech Therapy.
His research focuses on the advanced use of scintigraphy and PET/CT in oncology and neurology, with particular interest in the integration of artificial intelligence techniques in image analysis. He is the author/co-author of 55 indexed publications on IRIS/CINECA, making a significant contribution to the scientific literature in the field.
